Welcome to Virgo Season

Virgo, the sign of organisation and decision making it has a bad rep for being too picky and a perfectionist which can often lead to it being perceived as critical.

Virgo is traditionally known as the sign of decision making for it comes at the end of summer in the Northern Hemisphere and decides on whether to harvest the crops now or later. The season is marked by the Sun entering Virgo on the 23 August and will stay there until 22 September. The Sun, one of the luminaries in Astrology but added to the list of planets for convenience rules who we are at a core level in our birth charts.

Those born with the Sun in Virgo may have more of the tendencies mentioned above however, like all charts, can be influenced by other placements and aspects from planets in others signs.

Virgo is linked to the 6th house, the house of daily work, service and pets and is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication.

When the Sun falls into each season it influences how we can use the energies of that sign to take action in to our lives on earth. What areas of our life could do with some house keeping? How can we clear up our act? Do our finances need a look over? Is it time to finally Marie Kondo that wardrobe?

Think about areas of your daily work and how you are of service to the greater community? We are all here to help in one way or another, what is your contribution?

Do you love animals? Could you help out at your local shelter?

How does the Virgo season tie in with the Moon?

The Moon cycle began in Leo on August 19, Leo wants us to be the star of our own show, the Moon influences our emotions- it's our fears, our desires, and the feeling we get when we accomplish and how we show it something is all influenced by the placement of the Moon.

This cycle, we look at showing ourselves- and what is getting in our way of doing so. Remembering there is the shadow side to everything we look at the parts of Leo that come across as self-centred and attention seeking. Are we being considerate of others?

When Galileo discovered our solar system revolves around the Sun, Astronomy and Astrology became separate entities, as within astrology - everything revolves around the earth and us. So we use the Sun as the all empowering giver of light, the leader, the one who writes the first chapter of who we are- the first layer as such.

Message of Virgo Season:

Done is better than perfect.

The parable of the Pottery Class and Quantity vs Quality

The ceramics teacher announced on opening day that he was dividing the class into two groups. All those on the left side of the studio, he said, would be graded solely on the quantity of work they produced, all those on the right solely on its quality.

His procedure was simple: on the final day of class he would bring in his bathroom scales and weigh the work of the “quantity” group: fifty pound of pots rated an “A”, forty pounds a “B”, and so on. Those being graded on “quality”, however, needed to produce only one pot – albeit a perfect one – to get an “A”.

Well, came grading time and a curious fact emerged: the works of highest quality were all produced by the group being graded for quantity. It seems that while the “quantity” group was busily churning out piles of work – and learning from their mistakes – the “quality” group had sat theorizing about perfection, and in the end had little more to show for their efforts than grandiose theories and a pile of dead clay.
