Let's be clear right from the beginning: retrogrades are not to be feared, they are an opportunity to learn and make friends with our shadow side. Where there is dark there is light. Hold on to that thought and brace yourself for the next 4.5 months as planets Mars and Saturn take us on a ride.
I want you to imagine two magnets together, what happens when you put them on opposing sides? A force is created and those magnets are now repelling each other. This is what is happening above, Mars who usually orbits the Sun quite quickly is slowed right down as it conjuncts Saturn. Think of two cars beside each other on the road, when you look at the car next to you it almost seems like it's going backwards. That is what retrograde motion is, so while it is not actually going backwards it appears that way- it’s an optical illusion.
Mars is known as the ‘Planet of War’ in March this year when it was in Capricorn next to (aka conjunct) Jupiter and Pluto, and then made a conjunction with Saturn in Aquarius in April the world came to a complete standstill.
It's now made it's to Aries where it rules and will remain until Jan 2021 and starts it's retrograde motion on September 9th until November 13th. This time will be particularly challenging as Mars is square (at a 90 degree angle from) Saturn in Capricorn. Aries and Capricorn come under Cardinal Modality umbrella which means they are both 'initiators'- its a battle between fire and earth elements and they both want to win. With this Square off between these two planets we can expect some challenges to arise but they can also be our greatest lessons.
Saturn is a bit of a hard-ass, think of that relentless Teacher at School or that Boss that is difficult to work with- that’s Saturn and like the tough-love Boss or Teacher, their challenging ways teach you the most.
Be strategic, plan ahead and get organised. Interruptions to your day, overwhelmed by that pile of mess in the corner, the niggly tasks that have been put off- do them now and get them out of the way. It’s the little shit like this that is going to grind your gears.
Completely acceptable and understandable, what’s not acceptable is using that Anger as a form of self sabotage. Be angry but direct it where it’s needed.
